Meet Erin (she/her)
Erin specifically works with adult children of parents that abused substances when they were growing up, and most of her clients still have a relationship with their parents. Whether your parent is now sober or still in active addiction, there is a complexity to the emotions this relationship(s) holds, the grief over what you wish you had with them, and the anger of the choice they have (and oftentimes continue to) made. Due to this complexity and this grief, extra care and knowledge around attachment theory and trauma are required when working with clients that she can provide.
Erin can assist you in healing these attachment traumas and hopefully healing a relationship with this parent if that is what you wish by creating a safe and warm environment for you and then act as a guide as you process past experiences using IFS and/or EMDR trauma therapies. She also works with those managing chronic illnesses on a daily basis.
The journey to being her best self started with a scary phone call asking for help, but it was best thing she ever did. She'd encourage you to make the call. Therapy and moving towards healing is hard, and the status quo is always an option. However, on the other side of our trauma and pain, our truest self lives. Finding him or her is worthwhile.
